Retreat Host & Speaker
Love of Christ Church
Alexandria, VA

Bishop Carver E. Poindexter is a native Washingtonian and the third of three children born to the late William and Jennie Poindexter. Bishop Poindexter was educated in Washington, DC. He is the husband of one wife, Pastor Lorene Poindexter.

Bishop Poindexter and his family joined the Mt. Nebo Pentecostal Church in Alexandria, Virginia. In May 1975 he was baptized in the Name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost. Heeding the voice of God to preach in His vineyard, he was licensed as an ordained minister under the leadership of the late Pastor Vivian Posey. Continuing to regard the voice of the Lord, Bishop Poindexter was called to pastor and establish a work. When he prayed for a name of his church, "Love of Christ" was the name the Lord spoke into his spirit. He joined the Bible Way World Wide Organization and in June 1980, he was ordained Elder; in July 1996 District Elder; and July 1998 Bishop at the National Convocation Bible Way World Wide.

Bishop Poindexter is well respected and is held in high esteem among his peers on the General Board of Bishops, Bible Way World Wide. He is the Auxiliary Bishop of the Missionary Department. He is also the Presiding Bishop of the Virginia Northwest Jurisdiction#2. Many thriving churches are under his leadership and District and fellowship meetings are held on a continuing basis. Various teaching and workshops are held during these meetings that include all ministries of the church; i.e., Ministers, Evangelists, Deacons, Missionaries, Youth, etc.

Bishop Poindexter can be heard every Saturday morning at 9:00 am on the "Power in the Word Broadcast" airing on WAVA 780 AM.

On January 29, 2006, Bishop Poindexter received his Doctorate of Divinity Degree from St. Thomas Christian College. When not spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, Bishop Poindexter enjoys scriptural research, fishing and sports.

Bishop Poindexter is called, appointed and anointed to preach the uncompromising Word of God.
